It's that time of the year again. Yes, it is time for the new iphone (or should I say "the same iphone" ?)

Let me just say this at the start ---- Apple likes to sell the same thing over and over again, removing things then adding them back, taking away things then selling them separately and more while improving certain aspects of the phone each time!

This time they decided to remove the Charger while shipping the phone😦. Environment friendly they say. Anyways, I have written down some key differences between the 2 phones and also I have provided the pricing as of now on Apple's site and also on Flipkart.

So let us begin with "iphone 12 pro max vs iPhone 11 pro max, Should you upgrade?"

📱 DIFFERENCES 📱

So what has changed in the new iteration? 

Let us see the major differences between iphone 12 Pro Max and iphone 11 Pro Max

• First of, the obvious change. iphone 12 will come with IOS 14. iphone 11 users will also be able to upgrade.

• Screen Size has been increased to 6.7 inches(Pro Max) from 6.5 which will give it a better screen-to-body ratio of 87.4% over 83.7%

• The bigger and the more important change is in the CPU. iphone 12 will ship with Apple's A14 Bionic chip which is based on 5 nm tech which is pretty cool. Their site says -- 

A14 Bionic is the fastest chip in a smartphone.

And it pushes what’s possible. Like crunching trillions of operations on the Neural Engine. Or shooting in Dolby Vision — even pro movie cameras can’t do that. It’s super efficient for great battery life. And it’s ahead of its time, prepared to power pretty much anything that comes next.

 

• Apart from the CPU, the other big thing in iphone 12 is that it will support 5G. Sure the world might not be ready for 5G, at least right now. But it would soon be so it doesn't hurt to be future ready!

• Also the cameras have seen slight change. The primary lens is a 12 MP, f/1.6 shooter which means you will be getting slightly better bokeh and portrait shots because of the larger aperture. The second lens on the back is the telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom instead of 2x.

• For video also there has been some additions such as Dolby capture -- iPhone 12 Pro jumps from 8- to 10‑bit HDR recording, capturing 700 million colors for much more lifelike video. Then it goes one better, recording in Dolby Vision — the format used by film studios -- says Apple!

• They are boasting about something called "Ceramic Shield" glass which will give 4x better drop performance.

💸 PRICING 💸

Pricing is the main concern for us Indians while buying pretty much anything.

The pricing here has been provided from Flipkart and Apple's official site at the time of this article's publishing.

• The Iphone 12 Pro Max has current price of ₹1,29,900 on their site as seen at the time of this article.

• The iphone 12 Pro has current price of ₹1,19,900 on their site as seen at the time of this article.

• The current price of Iphone 11 Pro Max(64GB) on Flipkart at the time of this article is ₹1,17,100

• The current price of Iphone 12 Pro Max(256 GB) on Flipkart at the time of this article is ₹1,39,900 

The older iphones never really go down in values that much even after the launch of the newer versions.

As we can see here there isn't much to argue about which phone you should buy. And if you already own the older version and still want to upgrade then it all depends your needs and financial status.

I will be completely honest, I don't see any real reason you would want to upgrade to iphone 12 Pro Max from 11 Pro Max. Sure there are some quirks and improvements here and there but they will always be there! Improvement and innovations will always be there. Companies will make better and better products and lure customers their way by attracting them with new ideas.

👍 WHY TO UPGRADE ?

• You should upgrade if you think the a13 Bionic chip isn't fast enough for you.

• You should upgrade if you think the you need a f1.6 camera over f1.8 or if you want even better portrait shots from your phone.

• You should upgrade if you are going to make tons of movies and cinematic content on your phone.

• You should upgrade if you want to be 5G ready.

👎 WHY NOT TO UPGRADE ?

• You shouldn't upgrade if you don't have any complains regarding the chip performance.

• You shouldn't upgrade if you are already satisfied with the camera performance and aren't looking for an even better quality camera.

• You shouldn't upgrade if you won't be using your phone to record tons of videos and don't care about the name "Dolby" at all.

• You shouldn't upgrade if you aren't sure you would be needing 5G anytime soon or that 5g won't be available in your country/ area which is most likely for us Indians.

• And lastly, you should not buy the new iPhone if your budget doesn't allow. Seriously, don't buy something that is too expensive  for your budget. I know a lot of the younger generation loves Apple products and want to own them to be cool even when they can't afford it easily. Invest that money somewhere more important and maybe buy the phone next year or after that because it's not like new iPhone won't come out next year!😉
